Item check in and check out provides document control for groups of users. When a user checks out an item, the item is "locked" and other users cannot edit the item. Other users can only view the item, not modify it. After the user checks in the item another user can check out the item and edit it. This prevents users from overwriting each other's changes.
Notes:
To check in and check out an item, you must first enable
item checkout.
Navigate to the page that includes the item.
Note: If you do not see the page that you want to work with, you may not have the appropriate page access privileges. See your page group administrator to gain access.
Switch to Edit mode.
Locate the item that you want to check out and click
beside the item.
Click Check-out.
Note: If this option does not appear, you may need to enable item checkout.
The item is checked out. Other users cannot edit the item.
Note: While the item is
checked out, you can edit the item by clicking
next to item. You can also perform many actions on the item, such as hide,
move, copy,
and expire. Click
beside the item to see the list of actions.
Navigate to the page that includes the item.

Click Edit to switch to Edit mode.
Locate the item that you want to check in and click
beside the item.
Note: Only the user who checked out the item can check in the item.
Click Check-in.
Upload the updated item as required.
Click OK.
The item is now available for other users to edit.
Public users are not aware of checked-out items.
