René Richard Cyr

Multi-talented René Richard Cyr has made his mark on Montréal and Québec culture for over 40 years, exporting his works across Canada and abroad. He has worked in multiple domains as a writer, actor, director, producer, artistic director, TV host, ideator and teacher.

He held leadership positions for many years with Théâtre Petit à Petit and Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui. A prolific director, he has brought some 125 works to the stage, including over 70 plays, three operas and numerous shows including some for international artists Céline Dion, the Montréal Symphony Orchestra and the Cirque du Soleil. 

Mr. Cyr has also written or co-written a dozen works, including the notable musical adaptation of Les Belles-sœurs. An accomplished actor, he has performed in theatre, television and cinema, including Michel Tremblay’s play Hosanna, and the Fred Pellerin films Babine and Ésimésac.
