Eligibility

Nominations to the Ordre de Montréal must be made by a third party and suppported by two other persons. Nominees must meet at least one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be born on the territory of the Montréal urban agglomeration
  • Reside or have resided within this same territory for at least 5 years
  • Carry out or have carried out professional activities within this same territory for at least 5 years

Eligible territory

The 19 boroughs of the city of Montréal, as well as Baie-D’Urfé, Beaconsfield, Côte-Saint-Luc, Dorval, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Hampstead, Kirkland, Montréal-Est, Montreal West, Mount Royal, Pointe-Claire, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Senneville, and Westmount.

Exclusions

Elected officials, political staff and employees and managers of municipal, provincial or federal government agencies; members of the council of the Ordre and people with a criminal conviction can not be admitted to the Ordre nor can they put forward or support a nomination.
