Francine Bernier has been at the helm of the Agora de la danse for over 30 years, playing a pivotal role in Montréal’s contemporary dance scene.

A leader in disseminating choreography and a tireless unifying force, she has helped shine a light on artists around the world. Under her direction, the Agora has presented over 370 Quebec, Canadian and international productions. With boldness and determination, she united the vital forces of a community and contributed to the realization of the WILDER BUILDING – Espace danse, an exceptional creative hub in the heart of Montréal’s Quartier des spectacles. A committed human being, in 2008 she co-founded Danse contre la violence, offering over 2,500 women victims of domestic violence a space for artistic transformation. An Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de France, Francine Bernier embodies innovation, rigour and integrity. Her energy, channelled into the service of dance and the Montréal artistic community, inspires widespread admiration.
