Changing the attributes displayed in a region

You can change the attributes that are displayed next to items and portlets in a region.

For example, by default, the Display Name or Image, New Item Indicator, Perspectives, Associated Functions, Descriptions, and In Place Item Display attributes are displayed for each item in a region. However, in some regions you might want to provide more information about the items. For example, you might want to include the Document Size, Expire Date, or some custom attribute specific to your own content. Or, you might want to provide less information; you might choose not to clutter your pages with item descriptions.

To change the attributes displayed in a region, you must have at least one of the following privileges:

• Portal administrator

• Manage All privileges on the page group to which the page belongs

• Manage privileges on the page

• Manage global privileges on All Pages

To change the attributes displayed in a region:

1. Go to the page with which you want to work.

2. Switch to Edit mode.

3. Click in the region in which you want to change the attributes.

4. Click the Attributes/Style tab (for item regions) or the Attributes tab (for portlet regions).

5. To add an attribute to the region, select the attribute in the Available Attributes list and click .

   The attribute is added to the bottom of the Displayed Attributes list. Use the order buttons ( ) to determine where the attribute is displayed in relation to the other attributes in the region.

   For example, if you want the Description attribute to be displayed first, select Description in the Displayed Attributes list, and click to move it to the top of the list.

6. Add <Blank Line> and <Space> attributes to improve the layout of the attributes in the region. You can add as many of these attributes as you need.

7. To remove an attribute from the region, select the attribute in the Displayed Attributes list and click .

8. Click Apply to save your changes.

9. Click Close to return to the page.

Notes

• If an item or portlet has no information for a particular attribute, the attribute will not be displayed in the region, even if you selected to display that attribute. For example, if you selected to display the Description attribute in a region, but the Description field has been left blank for a particular item in that region, then the Description attribute will not display next to the item.
