2020

A fervent defender of the democratization of contemporary music and the promotion of musical composition, composer/conductor Walter Boudreau has penned more than sixty works for various ensembles, in addition to scores for cinema, theatre and ballet.

Artistic Director of the Québec Contemporary Music Society since 1988, he has influenced and assisted the development of countless composers, performers and artists who he trained, supported, encouraged and guided. His visionary leadership contributes in a remarkable way to making Montréal a bold cultural metropolis and a respected centre of music composition in North America and across the world.

His avant-garde effervescence is eloquently illustrated by the biennial Montréal/New Music Festival and the memorable Millennium Symphony, a turning point in Montréal's musical history. On the international scene, the name of Walter Boudreau is associated with our city as a leading centre of contemporary music.
