Sylvie Bernier made history by winning the gold medal in women’s 3 metre springboard diving at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, thus becoming the first Québec woman to win an Olympic gold medal and giving Canada its first and only Olympic gold diving medal to this day.

She actively supported Canadian athletes as Chef de Mission or Assistant Chef de Mission at the Olympic Games of Turin, Beijing and London.

She has dedicated herself to promoting good health for over 30 years. In addition to reporting on healthy life styles in various media, she originated the Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence du Québec and chairs the Table de concertation sur un mode de vie physiquement actif and the Table québécoise sur la saine alimentation.
