
Born in Saigon, she moved to Québec at the age of ten, where she studied linguistics and law at the Université de Montréal. Having worked as a seamstress, interpreter, lawyer and restaurateur, she then became an author and television host. Her first novel, Ru, published in 2009, won a Governor General's Literary Award and enjoyed international success. In other works, such as Mãn, Vi and Em, she offers stories of a rare sensitivity, now distributed in 45 countries. Having learned French on her arrival, Kim Thúy has used the language to produce subject matter that transcends borders. At the crossroads of cultures, the career and works of this universal messenger enrich the history of Québec literature with grace and delicacy.
