The head of AlterGo for forty years, Monique Lefebvre continues to make a remarkable contribution to the social inclusion of people with functional limitations, overcoming obstacles to sports and recreation and in corporate culture by highlighting their talents. By changing people’s attitudes through her unwavering perseverance, her vision of an accessible society for all and her determination have influenced and inspired many decision makers, elected officials and partners from every milieu..

She also launched the Défi sportif AlterGo sports challenge, which has become a unique world-renowned event. 700 participants took part in AlterGo’s first edition in 1984. Today, more than 8,000 athletes from around the world, with all kinds of functional limitations, take part in a wide variety of competitions, making it the largest multisport event in Canada.

Monique Lefebvre’s actions have brought renown to Montréal and its sports facilities as a prime location for adapted sports.
