
Treasurer of the Confederation of National Trade Unions (CSN) for 20 years, it was there he initiated the Bâtirente pension fund for workers who didn’t have one. In 1995, he created Fondaction, the CSN’s Development Fund for cooperation and employment, which he chairs to this day. Under his leadership, Fondaction stimulates investment in innovative Québec firms who subscribe to sustainable development. One of its first investments led to the revitalization of the Angus Yards district in Montréal.
Léopold Beaulieu’s commitment to the promotion of a socially supportive economy also led him to become involved with 20-odd organizations in Québec and abroad who profit from his vision and his managerial talents.
