World renowned bass singer Joseph Rouleau has represented Québec at major festivals and on stages world-wide in more than 168 operas. 

His formidable voice has featured in masterpieces of the lyric art alongside such artists as Maria Callas, Placido Domingo, Joan Sutherland and Kiri Te Kanawa, under the direction of conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta and Sir Georg Solti. His discography includes recordings of Berlioz, Gounod, Mussorgsky, Rossini and Félix Leclerc.

Joseph Rouleau was President of the Mouvement d’action pour l’art lyrique du Québec, which worked to create the Opéra de Montréal company. He also co-founded the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM), an annual development competition for young, talented singers, pianists and violinists. President of Jeunesses Musicales Canada for over 25 years, he is still very active in fund raising for JMC through its Foundation.
