As a pioneer Québec radio and television journalist, a soap opera writer, and a TV host, she witnessed, watched and acted in the transformation of Québec society. Taking a bold and modernist approach to often taboo subjects, her broadcasts, books, and plays inspire openness to diversity and a desire for collective progress. A prolific public figure, she is committed to gender equality. A tireless advocate of dialogue against prejudice and defender of the rights of the LGBTQ2+ community, she speaks eloquently on behalf of women, the elderly and the vulnerable. Humane and humanist, Janette Bertrand's energy is phenomenal and, even at age 100, she remains an ardent defender of an inclusive and welcoming society.
