A Rosemont native and UQAM graduate, he began his career at CIBL radio. It was there that he met the group Rock et Belles Oreilles, becoming their manager as a prelude to working with various renowned artists over the years. As President of ADISQ in 2000, he campaigned for solid, long-term cultural support structures. He also contributed to the Quartier des spectacles partnership, which he chaired from 2012 to 2019 and which became an inseparable part of the Montréal experience. In 2020, he became General Manager of Spectra and its Festival International de Jazz, Francos de Montréal and Montréal en Lumière festivals, further strengthening their identity and their winter roots. He has contributed to the development of a model of cultural and urban tourism that promotes Montréal’s northern character. A mobilizing, rallying, driving force, Jacques Primeau brilliantly orchestrates the cultural aspirations of the city he loves.
