With bachelor's and master's degrees in aerospace and aerothermal engineering from Cambridge University and a PhD in aerospace engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Farah Alibay joined NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in 2014.

Her participation in the aerospace mission that landed the Perseverance rover on the planet Mars brought her to the attention of the general public in 2021. A young queer woman and daughter of immigrants, Farah Alibay stands out for her authenticity and remarkable generosity. She is an exceptional woman in a predominantly male scientific world, and in addition to her impact in promoting science to young people, she is an inspiring role model for present and future generations of women and an incomparable ambassador for Montréal.
