For five decades, she has contributed to the dissemination and recognition of French-language song. The beauty of her works resonates in her own voice as in those of performers such as Céline Dion, Ginette Reno, and Dalida. Her remarkable artistic journey has been paralleled by her tireless advocacy on behalf of authors’ and composers’ rights. To this end, in 1981 she co-founded the Société professionnelle des auteurs et des compositeurs du Québec to defend their moral, professional, and economic interests — an indispensable instrument for fostering a climate in which their creativity can thrive. She is also credited with establishing the SPACQ Foundation to support the training and professional development of creators.
