A visionary engineer and urban planner, Daniel Arbour shaped Montréal’s evolution by instilling a modern approach to urban planning.

Active in Montréal's urban planning department from the late 1960s, he influenced the profession as he rose through a distinguished career with several organizations before launching Daniel Arbour & Associés in 1990. His innovative approach profoundly redefined the urban landscape of Montréal and beyond, laying the foundations of contemporary Québec urban planning. He has headed up exemplary projects both here and abroad, notably in China, marking a major step forward in sustainable urban redevelopment and positioning Montréal as a world leader in this field. An emeritus member of the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec, a Université de Montréal scholarship for excellence in promoting new approaches to planning bears his name, recognizing him as a pioneer of sustainable urban planning.
