Born in Haiti and raised in the Saint-Michel neighbourhood, he made his mark on Canadian Olympic history in the 1990s through his achievements in the 100-metre sprint and the gold medal won in the four-by-100-metre relay at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Over the years, he has demonstrated his commitment to passing on to the next generation the values that set him apart. In that spirit, he launched the Fondation Bruny Surin in 2002, offering thousands of young people improved access to mentorship, education, and sport development programs. Deeply attached to Montréal and actively engaged in numerous causes, Bruny Surin continues to build a legacy in which social commitment is woven into a remarkable trajectory of excellence.
