Alain Paré

Knight
2026

An energetic and enthusiastic champion of Québec's presence on the international stage, Alain Paré has devoted more than half a century to establishing Montréal as a major hub for arts dissemination.

Founder in 1984 of the Conférence internationale des arts de la scène (CINARS), he conceived a marketplace and an event that have propelled the presence of Québec artists to every continent. Under his leadership, the CINARS Biennale became an essential gathering place for presenters and creators from around the world, with a model that has since been replicated in more than seven countries. Each edition attracts to Montréal more than 2,000 professionals from 50 countries, who come to discover the boldness and inspiration of companies such as Ex Machina, La La La Human Steps, Marie Chouinard, and Les 7 Doigts. A true maestro of mobilization and the development of emerging talent, Alain Paré has made a pivotal contribution to establishing Montréal's signature as one of the world's foremost centres of artistic hospitality and dissemination.
