Place des Montréalaises

Inuk author, composer, performer, director, producer and activist, Elisapie makes her art and her voice heard from North to South.

Originally from Nunavik, she moved to Tiohtià:ke-Montréal in 1999 to study, as a prelude to an exceptional artistic career. Winner of three Juno Awards and nine ADISQ Gala trophies, she has produced a notable, multilingual body of work in Inuktitut, French and English, deftly combining folk, pop and Inuit sounds. Her music, documentaries and words reconcile Indigenous memory with the present through a resolutely contemporary approach. In 2024, Canada Post issued a stamp in her honour. A quiet force of engaged art and ambassador of social justice, Elisapie leaves a deep imprint, both in intimate venues and on major festival stages, across Greater Montréal and around the world. Her inspiring journey invites us to listen and marvel.
