2025

Michèle Rouleau has dedicated her life to the recognition of Indigenous realities and aspirations.

Born in Abitibi in 1956 to an Ojibwe mother and a Québécois father, she ran a Native Friendship Centre in her native region from the age of 20. Once settled in Montréal, she became president of Québec Native Women in 1987. Her energy and discourse led her into the world of communications, notably as host of Nations, Québec’s first program on Indigenous issues, broadcast on Télé-Québec and RDI. She then founded Wabanok TV, a Montréal-based production company dedicated to creating a powerful, assertive native voice. During her years dedicated to social justice and changing attitudes, she also sat on the boards of numerous organizations. A feminist and humanist, Michèle Rouleau reconciles cultures and consciences with sincerity, sensitivity and solidarity.
