Demonstrating the importance of literacy has been a hallmark of her career. Few people can claim to have had an impact on more than a million children, their parents, and new book donors. This is what Sophie Labrecque has done with The Gift of Reading, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Among her accomplishments, this reading promotion project and the growth of the Literacy Foundation are outstanding achievements. Her avant-garde leadership has attracted major local and international partners. Besides having changed the lives of thousands of children, this exceptional contribution to improving literacy has nurtured Montréal and all of Québec.
