As President of BMO Financial Group, Claude Gagnon's commitment to the community was a hallmark of his professional leadership in more than one domain.

He has been involved in cultural institutions, youth organizations, and business associations, including Montréal International, CIRANO, the Fondation Ressources-Jeunesse, the Fondation Dr Julien, Sport Québec's Vision 2020, the Groupe de travail sur la littératie financière and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Claude Gagnon was also one of the driving forces behind the popular mobilization movement Je vois Montréal, whose mission was to instill confidence and pride in the city and breathe new life into its economy.
