Montréal is launching a call for nominations for the Ordre de Montréal, the city’s highest honorary distinction
Montreal, September 16 2022 - Montréal is inviting organizations and citizens to submit nominations for the next Ordre de Montréal awards, in order to highlight the accomplishments of an extraordinary person. “Montréal was built and continues to evolve through the actions, talents and commitment of its citizens. Our city is ever stronger, more united, more inclusive and more prosperous thanks to its population. I encourage all organizations to suggest nominations whose diverse backgrounds reflect Montréal’s unique character,” stated Mayor Valérie Plante.
The Ordre de Montréal Council
Nominations will be closely examined by the Council of the Ordre de Montréal, based on their scope, originality, and on the impact of every candidate’s achievements on their community. The Council is made up of cochairs Isabelle Hudon and Bernard Voyer, as well as members from various fields of expertise: Bernard Descôteaux, Cadleen Désir, Steve Foster, Monika Ille, Emilie Nicolas, Jan-Fryderyk Pleszczynski and Louise Roy.

The Ordre de Montréal was created on May 17, 2016, as a legacy of the city’s 375 th anniversary. The Ordre de Montréal took over the mission of the Académie des Grands Montréalais, created in 1988 by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montréal.
