In 2018, convinced that education is the key to success, she made a significant financial contribution to her alma mater, which has renamed its engineering faculty in her honour. Thanks to her gift, the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science will finance new scholarships, support leading-edge research on intelligent cities and create three research chairs. Concordia University has become the first Canadian university to name its Faculty of Engineering after a woman, making a strong statement about women’s equality.
Gina P. Cody arrived in Montréal in 1979 after fleeing the Iranian Revolution, and encourages all students, no matter who they are, to be inspired by her life’s journey and follow their dreams.
