Montréal-based startup Motorleaf enables greenhouse industries to better plan their harvests with artificial intelligence

A US $ 2.85 million round of financing for the Montreal startup Motorleaf will allow the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize the harvest planning of greenhouse producers.

In case of over-harvesting, farmers are forced to sell their perishable goods quickly and at low prices. Using AI and machine-learning algorithms developed by Motorleaf, it will be possible to collect data on growing conditions in the interior and to identify trends in greenhouse growth for predict the size of the next crops. The use of AI will result in major productivity gains while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and change the game in the agri-food sector. The first trials of this technology in a tomato greenhouse in California since October 2017 have demonstrated its added value on the agricultural front.
