Creating a page template from an existing page

If there is an existing page that you want to use as the starting point for a new page template, you can convert the page to a template, rather than create a completely new page template.

When you convert a page, a copy of the page is created, and it is that copy that becomes the new page template. The original page still exists, and is not affected by the conversion.

NoteTo create a page template, you must have at least one of the following privileges:

Only pages that are not based on a template can be converted to templates.

To create a page template from an existing page:

  1. In the Navigator, click Convert to Template next to the page that you want to use.

    Tip: If you want to create a template from the page group's home page, click Convert to Template next to the page group.

  2. In the confirmation screen, click Yes to create a copy of the page and convert that copy to a page template.

  3. Edit the new page template's properties to meet your specific requirements.

  4. Edit the page template's layout and content to meet your specific requirements.
