Changing the appearance of the Add Portlets screen

When you add a portlet to a page, you do so from the Add Portlet screen. The Add Portlet screen allows you to pick a portlet from the Portlet Repository, which by default looks like this:

The Portlet Repository in the Add Portlets screen

The Portlet Repository shows all the portlets that you are authorized to see. Because the Portlet Repository is another page group, you can change the appearance of the list by changing the style used by the pages in the Portlet Repository.

If you don't see the providers you expect to see in the Portlet Repository, you may not have the necessary privileges. Because each portlet provider is represented by a page, your portal administrator can control which users see pages in the Portlet Repository. The portal administrator can also apply security at the portlet level by editing the portlet in the Portlet Repository. See your portal administrator if you don't have access to the providers or portlets you need.

NoteTo change the appearance of the Add Portlets screen, you must have at least one of the following privileges:

Be careful when changing a style, because any changes you make affect the appearance of all the pages and regions that use the style.

In addition to the portal administrator enforcing portlet security in the Portlet Repository, providers can also apply security to the portlets that they provide. For information about securing portlets, see the Portal Developer Kit on Oracle Technology Network.
