Adding and deleting favorite groups

Favorite groups enable you to organize your favorites in logical entities. For example, you might create a group called Newspapers that contains links to The New York Times, The Washington Post, and so on. The group might also contain subgroups called Michigan Publications and Libertarian Press, which contain favorites to URLs related to those themes.

Note: The display of the favorites on the Navigate Favorites page is not necessarily the same as the display in the Favorites portlet. Although you can nest favorite groups to several levels in the Navigator, only the first two levels are displayed within the Favorites portlet. To display a group's subgroups in the Favorites portlet, click Favorite Group.

To add a favorite group:

  1. In the Favorites portlet banner, click the portlet name (by default, this is Favorites).

    The Navigate Favorites page displays.

  2. To add a favorite group at the top level, click Create Group next to Actions. To add a group to another group, click Create Group next to the parent group.

  3. On the Add Favorite Group page, enter the display name and an optional description of the favorite group. The description is displayed only when you edit the favorite group.

  4. Click Create.

  5. To return to the page, click Close.

To delete a favorite group:

  1. In the Favorites portlet banner, click the portlet name (by default, this is Favorites).

    Navigate Favorites is displayed.

  2. Click Delete next to the favorite group that you want to delete. You may have to expand a group so that you can see the subgroup that you want to delete.

A confirmation dialog displays. The dialog warns that both the group as well as its contents are to be deleted.

  3. Click Yes to delete the group, or No to cancel the operation.

  4. To return to the page, click Close.
