Creating a URL page

URL pages display the contents of a particular URL. URL pages allow you to seamlessly include information from other sites in your page group.

NoteTo create a page, you must have at least one of the following privileges:

To create a URL page:

  1. In the Navigator, click Contents next to the page group in which you want to create the page.

  2. Click Create in the Pages row.

    Tip: If you want to create the page as a sub-page of another page, click Create next to the page under which you want to create the new URL page.

  3. In the Page Type list, choose URL.

    Note: If URL is not included in this list, the URL page type has been excluded from the page group.

  4. In the Name field, enter a name for the page.

    Note: The name is used internally and for direct access URLs. The name is limited to 40 characters, and can contain any alphanumeric character (A-Z, a-z, 0-9), spaces, and the following special characters: _, -, ., (, ), ! , ; = ~ @.

  5. In the Display Name field, enter a descriptive name for the page.

    Note: The display name is limited to 40 characters.

  6. (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description for the page. The description is displayed only when you edit the page. It does not appear to the user.

    Note: The description must not exceed 2000 characters.

  7. Click Next.

  8. In the URL field, enter the URL of the Web page that to show when the page is displayed.

  9. Click Next.

  10. (Optional) Select Display Page To Public Users if you want everyone, including users who are not logged into the portal, to be able to view the page.

  11. (Optional) To explicitly grant privileges to specific users or groups:

    1. In the Grantee field, enter the name of the user or group that you want to allow to access this page.

      Tip: If you are not sure of the name of the user or group, click Browse Users (for users) or Browse Groups (for groups), and select from the list provided.

    2. In the list, choose a privilege level.

      Notes:

      • The order of the privileges in the list is not based on any hierarchy of privileges. For more information, see Page privileges.

      • The following page privileges do not apply to URL pages: Manage Items With Approval, Manage Style, Customize Portlets, Customization

    3. Click Add.

      Tip: If you want to grant a user or group multiple privileges, for example Manage Content and Manage Style, add the user or group separately for each privilege.

  12. Click Finish to create the page and return to the Navigator.
