Changing an item's display option

You can control the display option of items that include the Display Option attribute. The display option controls how the item is displayed in the page.

Notes: You must be logged on as a page owner or an authorized user with the appropriate page or item-level privileges.

To change an item's display option:

1. Navigate to the page that includes the item.

   Note: If you do not see the page that you want to work with, you may not have the appropriate page access privileges. See your page group administrator to gain access.

2. Switch to Edit mode.

3. Click beside the item that includes the display option that you want to change.

4. Select a display option. The display options include:

   • Item Displayed Directly In Page Area: The content is displayed directly in the page area with other items.
     
   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window: When an end user clicks the item's link, the content is displayed in the full browser window, replacing the current page.
     
   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window: When an end user clicks the item's link, a new browser window is opened to display the content.

   The item types have the following display options:

   Text items:

   • Item Displayed Directly In Page Area (Default)
     

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
     
   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   URL items:

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window (Default)
     

   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   File items:

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window (Default)
     

   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   Image items:

   • Item Displayed Directly In Page Area (Default)
     

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
     
   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   Simple Image Map items:

   • Item Displayed Directly In Page Area (Default)
     

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
     
   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   PL/SQL items:

   • Item Displayed Directly In Page Area
     

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window (Default)
     
   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   Page Link items:

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window (Default)
     

   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   Portlet Instance items:

   • Item Displayed Directly In Page Area (Default)
     

   • Link That Displays Item In Full Browser Window
     
   • Link That Displays Item In New Browser Window

   Note: There are no display options for items based on navigation item types.

5. Click OK.
