Assigning a portlet publisher

Several Oracle Portal objects, including pages and components, can be displayed as portlets in a portal. However, if every user was able to make their objects available as portlets, the list of portlets would soon become unmanageable. Therefore, portal administrators can assign specific users as portlet publishers. Only portlet publishers can make Oracle9iAS Portal objects available as portlets.

You must be the portal administrator to assign a portlet publisher.

To assign a portlet publisher:

  1. Locate the Users portlet. By default, the Users portlet is located on the Administer tab of the Builder page.

The Users portlet accesses the Oracle Internet directory (OID)/Delegated Administration Services (DAS) functionality. Refer to the OID/DAS help for further information.

Enter the user name of the user who you want to assign as a portlet publisher in the Name field. Or click and select from the list provided.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. Select the PORTLET_PUBLISHERS group under the Public Groups Assignment. This enables this user to make Portal objects available as portlets. Users assigned as portlet publishers will see the Publish As Portlet check box when they create or edit objects.

Note: If the PORTLET_PUBLISHER group is not there, access the PORTLET_PUBLISHER group through the Group portlet and then add the users to the group as members.

  4. Click OK to add the user to the PORTLET_PUBLISHERS group.
