A page group is a collection of related pages. Every page belongs to a page group. A page group also contains any supporting objects required for the pages within it, for example styles, page templates, categories, and perspectives.
To
create a page group, you must have at least one of the following privileges:
Create global privileges on All Page Groups and Publish global privileges on All Providers
In the Navigator, click Page Group at the root level of the Page Groups tab.
Tip: This link appears at the top of the Page Group tab, next to the text Create New....
In the Name field, enter a name for the page group.
Note: The name is used internally and for direct access URLs. The name is limited to 60 characters and can contain only alphanumeric characters (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) and the underscore (_) character. Do not use spaces or other special characters.
In the Display Name field, enter a descriptive name for the page group.
Note: The display name is limited to 256 characters.
In the Default Language list, choose the language in which to create the page group.
Note: You can make the page group available in other languages later by creating a translation.
In the Page Template list, choose the page template to apply to the root page of the page group.
Notes:
This list includes all the page templates created within the Shared Objects page group.
If you choose <Create New> a blank page template is created under the new page group and is applied to the root page of the page group. You can then edit this page template to make it match your requirements.
The page template you choose here is applied to the page group's root page only, not every page within the page group. If you want other pages within the page group to use this page template, you must instruct page designers to choose the template when creating their pages. You can set the page template as the page group's default, so that it appears first in the list of templates offered to page designers.
Click Create.
Click the link in the confirmation message at the top of the page to edit your new page group and set up various page group properties.
Alternatively, you can create another page group, or click Close to return to the Navigator.
You can also create a page group from the Page Groups portlet, which, by default, is located on the Oracle9iAS Portal home page's Build tab. Click the Create button, then follow the procedure above from step 2 onwards.
When you create a page group, you are automatically assigned as its administrator (that is, you are granted Manage All privileges on the page group). If you want to assign a different administrator, see Assigning a page group administrator.
