You can control which categories users can apply to the items and pages in a page group. You can also reorder categories to establish the order to use when items in a region are grouped by category.
To
choose which categories are available in a page group, you must have
at least one of the following privileges:
Manage All privileges on the page group
Manage All global privileges on All Page Groups
In the Navigator click Properties next to the page group with which you want to work.
Click the Configure tab.
In the Content Type and Classification section, click Edit.
In the Hidden Categories list, choose the categories that you want users to be able to apply to items and pages in the page group.
Tip: You can choose more than one category in the Hidden Categories list. For example on Microsoft Windows, press Ctrl or Shift and choose multiple categories.
Click
to move the chosen categories to the Visible
Categories list.
In the Visible Categories list, choose the categories that you do not want users to be able to apply to items and pages in the page group.
Tip: You can choose more than one category in the Visible Categories list. For example on Microsoft Windows, press Ctrl or Shift and choose multiple categories.
Click
to move the chosen categories to the Hidden
Item Categories list.
Notes:
If you exclude categories from a page group, you are not deleting those categories, you are simply preventing users from being able to apply items and pages to those categories.
Hiding a category also means that any items that have already been assigned to that category will no longer appear when users view the page. Those items are still visible in Edit mode where they can be deleted or edited to assign them to a different category.
Use the
buttons to determine the order when items in a region are grouped
by category.
Click OK to return to the Configure tab.
Click OK to return to the Navigator.
If you want to make a sub-category visible, its parent category must also be chosen in the Visible Categories list.
If you hide a shared category, it is only hidden in the current page group (not in all page groups). To hide a shared category in all page groups, you must hide it in the Shared Objects page group.
Even if you exclude all categories from a page group, if an item or page type includes the category attribute, the category list will still be displayed when adding or editing items or pages. The General category will be displayed in the category list if though it is not included in the page group.
