Global privileges grant a global privilege level to a group for all objects of a given type. For example, you can give your Web Designer group Manage privileges for all styles throughout Oracle9iAS Portal.
Setting global privileges for a group is the same as setting global privileges for many users at once. All the members of a group have the same privilege level: you can't set conflicting privileges for a group member through the Users portlet or some other means.
You
must be the group creator, group owner, or the portal administrator
to set global privileges for a group. Users with the Manage privilege
for groups may also set global privileges.
In the Portal Group Profile portlet, click
and select a group from the list.
Tips:
By default, the Portal Group Profile portlet is located on the Administer tab of the Builder page.
If you don't see the group you're looking for, you are not the group's owner and may not change the group's global privileges.
Click Edit.
Click the Privileges tab.
Select a privilege level for each object type. A few things to note:
Each privilege in the list includes all other privileges below it. For example, if a user can manage page styles, he or she can also view, publish, and create page styles.
The Manage privilege allows a user to manage objects of a given type and also to grant privileges to other users/groups.
If the Create privilege for an object type is not expressly granted to a user, either here or through the Users portlet, the user will not be able to create an object of that type.
None means that no privilege has been granted for this object type. Without it, each user/group would have to be granted a privilege for each object type, which is not usually desirable.
Refer to Global Privileges for a description of each privilege level.
Click OK.
Global privileges are not reflected on the Access tabs for individual objects. For example, if you grant the Manage privilege for All Pages to a particular group or user, you will not see that group or user listed on the Access tab for individual pages.
