LaSalle extends food waste collection to two new areas
14 avril 2022
LaSalle, April 14, 2022 – During the week of May 2, 2022, two sectors in LaSalle are expanding the food waste collection to residential buildings with 9 or more units as well as to industrial, commercial and institutional (ICI) establishments.
▪ Tuesday, May 3 in the Blue sector
▪ Friday, May 6 in the Yellow sector
This is the last phase of the implementation of the food waste collection on LaSalle territory.
An alternative both simple and environmentally friendly
Organic waste makes up about 50% of the contents of Montrealers' garbage bins. That's why Ville de Montréal is offering a new food waste collection service to all residential buildings with 9 or more units as well as to certain commercial, institutional and industrial establishments. The waste materials collected will be transformed into natural gas and compost, to enrich the soil and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
Residents will receive:
▪ A brown bin and a kitchen bin, delivered to their homes April 18-30, 2022
▪ An information kit
Door-to-door
During the month of April, Éco-quartier LaSalle patrollers will be going door-to-door to answer questions and encourage residents to take part in the collection.
