An Eco-District in La Salle, Starting This Spring

3 mars 2017

Montréal, le 14 mars 2017 - At the Borough Council meeting last February, the Borough officially entrusted Héritage Laurentien with the responsibility of carrying out an eco-district program in LaSalle. This project stems, in particular from the Borough's desire to protect the environment and improve residents' quality of life.

The objective of LaSalle's eco-district (to be called Éco-quartier LaSalle) will be to inform residents about cleanliness, beautification, greening, waste management and neighbourhood life. Eco-district representatives will take part, in particular, in the various events organized by the Borough, in order to ensure sound management of waste materials and the promotion of environmental considerations. They will also look after organizing the next riverbank clean-up operations, will carry out awareness activities within the food scraps collection and take part in many environment-related events, such as Earth Day (April 22).

The offices of Éco-quartier LaSalle and, at the same time, of Héritage Laurentien, will open this spring at 55 avenue Dupras. Éco-quartier de LaSalle will be the 20th eco-district within the Regroupement des Éco-quartiers (REQ) to be set up in Montréal. For more information on eco-districts: www.eco-quartiers.org
