Borough of LaSalle: Benoit Gauthier Appointed LaSalle Borough Manager
9 novembre 2016
Montréal, le 9 novembre 2016 - Manon Barbe, Mayor of LaSalle, and her colleagues on Council, are pleased to announce the appointment of Benoit Gauthier as the new Borough Manager.
At its regular meeting on Monday, November 7, LaSalle Borough Council appointed a new Borough Manager, Benoit Gauthier, who will take office on December 3, 2016. Mr. Gauthier will be replacing Marc Morin, who will be leaving on retirement following a transition period.
A graduate of École Polytechnique with a degree in civil engineering, Mr. Gauthier has 30 years of experience in the municipal world, including 15 in senior management positions. After beginning his career as an engineer in the private sector, he worked nearly 20 years for Ville de Laval, as technical superintendent, technical office manager and then assistant director of public works and urban environment. He joined Ville de Montréal in 2005 and served, in turn, as director of public works, first in the Borough of Saint-Laurent and then in the Borough of Lachine. LaSalle subsequently welcomed Mr. Gauthier to its senior management team, in 2010, as director of public works. Then in 2013, he was appointed assistant borough manager.
Mayor Manon Barbe made a point of stressing that after six years of directing all of the Borough's operations related to public works and technical services, Mr. Gauthier had excellent knowledge of LaSalle territory and the major infrastructure projects under way or in the planning stages. She added that in his capacity as assistant borough manager since 2013, Mr. Gauthier was very familiar with the residents' local services expectations. She expressed her confidence that Mr. Gauthier's profile and experience will be an asset to help the Borough serve LaSalle residents well over the coming years.
