May 29 thunderstorm: The borough of LaSalle schedules four bulky
31 mai 2012
Montréal, le 31 mai 2012 - Because of the Tuesday, May 29th violent thunderstorm that beat down on Montréal at 5 p.m., when 46 millimetres of rain fell in one single hour, a number of LaSalle residents were unfortunately faced with sewer back-ups. The first thing that residents have to do is to contact their insurer, as it is a case of damage to private property. Then, in the course of the next days, these citizens will rapidly want to dispose of things that have suffered water damage in their garage or basement. The borough of LaSalle took special measures in order to help them. • Until June 9, residents who want to dispose of water-damaged materials, including construction materials, such as gypsum, may place them on their property, next to the sidewalk, without worrying about receiving a statement of offence. • These bulky objects will be picked up by the Borough Saturday, June 2nd as well as on Monday, June 4th; Wednesday, June 6th and Saturday, June 9th. Residents won't have to notify the City nor make an appointment. They will also be able to bring bulky items to Écocentre LaSalle at 7272 rue Saint-Patrick. These measures are only for residents of LaSalle. Before placing any water-damaged objects at the edge of their property, along the sidewalk, residents in other boroughs, whose sewers have backed up, absolutely must phone at 311 in order to find out what the procedures are for disposing of bulky items in their borough.
