LaSalle, April 4, 2011 - Since October 2009, Route 256 – Navette Or LaSalle has been making it easier for LaSalle's seniors to get around on public transit. The 33-km round-trip route includes 17 stops per direction and serves a number of seniors' residences in the area as well as the main local points of interest for this clientele. In addition to the residences, the shuttle stops at Carrefour Angrignon, CLSC LaSalle, Hôpital LaSalle, two community centres, L'Octogone library and the Aquadôme, among other locations.
Bus route 256 – Navette Or LaSalle operates with 14-seat minibuses during off-peak hours, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The run is approximately 50 minutes in each direction. Moreover, the bus route number is marked on a gold background at the stops in question, so that this particular type of service can be distinguished from the others. Transit users of this bus line must pay the same fare as on all of the STM's other lines. Maintaining and improving the shuttle service directly depends on how much it is used. The more LaSalle seniors use it, the better the chances that the STM will improve service on the Navette Or.
