Social and community housing is developed by cooperatives, non-profit organizations and the Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal. It is subsidized by the city’s community housing program and that of the Québec government.

AccèsLogis Montréal

AccèsLogis Montréal is a co-operative and not-for-profit housing program made possible by an agreement between the city and the Government of Québec. It aims to finance social and community housing projects.

By-law for a Diverse Metropolis

The By-law for a Diverse Metropolis, adopted in 2021, aims to preserve the diversity in Montréal’s neighbourhoods and promote access to adequate housing for all.

From now on, anyone developing a residential project with an area greater than 450 m2 (about the size of approximately five dwellings) must enter into an agreement with the city to contribute to its supply of social, affordable and family housing.
