Pompier Luka McEniry

Firefighter Luka McEniry (76-2), who joined the department in 2015, completed the Ironman Mont-Tremblant in surprising fashion, to say the least. On August 16, 2015, McEniry swam 3.8 kilometres, ran 42.2 kilometres and – wait for it – cycled 180 kilometres on a BIXI bike—all on a hot and sweltering day!

His performance on the bike allowed him donate $5,400 to Opération Enfant Soleil. Thanks to a sponsorship from TELUS, a BIXI partner company, the sum of $30 for every kilometre aboard the bike was donated to the cause. His exploit earned him the admiration of numerous participants on site, but also of colleagues and many others who learned of the athlete’s impressive achievement.

Congratulations to firefighter McEniry, who demonstrated tremendous determination and exemplary generosity in achieving his exploit.
