SIM managers present a cube filled with sports equipment to a school in the Montréal agglomeration

Montréal, February 9, 2016 - The Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (SIM) has been supporting the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie (GDPL) since 2014, and this year donated 19 cubes full of sports equipment to elementary schools in the Montréal agglomeration, made possible thanks to SIM employees’ involvement with children and the generosity of our valuable partners and donors.

SIM Director François Massé explained why he personally and his department are committed to this cause. “I am proud of our employees’ involvement with children as a way of encouraging them to adopt healthy lifestyles. As firefighters, we are natural models and we need to use this image to contribute to the well-being of our community.” He also thanked the department’s partners and citizens for their donations to the 2015 campaign. “Our success also stems from the support of our contributors and the generosity the citizens who gave to our fundraising campaign,” he concluded.

Note that the city of Montréal and the Caisse du Réseau municipal also readily supported this cause for the second year.
