The guard of honour is the ceremonial group of the Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (the Montréal fire department - SIM for short). It is composed of firefighters, managers, technical preventive measures officers and prevention officers.

The honour guard conveys and symbolizes the department's values: integrity, professionalism, respect and loyalty. It promotes the department in Montréal, across the province, across the country, and abroad.

It represents the department at official ceremonies and formal events, such as:

  • Swearing-in ceremonies
  • Medal ceremonies (exemplary service or acts of distinction)
  • Civic funerals
  • Commemoration of deceased firefighters
  • Welcoming and accompanying dignitaries
