All matters relating to urban planning and architecture come under the responsibility of the Direction de l’aménagement urbain.
The actions taken by this team are aimed at developing and enhancing LaSalle territory as much as possible: evaluating the impact of a new project, encouraging residents to preserve the features of their building in their renovation projects, looking after the harmonious integration of new construction, ensuring compliance with current standards and bylaws, etc. The team's main urban management tools are the Master Plan (the urban planning program) and the zoning bylaw as well as the site planning and architectural integration programs (SPAIP).
As for the Comité consultatif d’urbanisme (CCU), the urban planning advisory committee, it mainly consists of LaSalle residents and it is responsible for examining all requests and particularly those relating to minor exemptions, which must be subject to a recommendation on the part of Borough Council, which makes the final decision.
