Fenêtres sur l'immigration (Windows onto immigration)

Exhibition in French only

“Stories of immigration are always tales of courage.”
José-Louis JACOME, Portugal, arrived in 1958

Montrealers from immigrant backgrounds confide in you. Each person’s story is a window onto the realities of immigration. Why did they come to Montréal? Did they experience culture shock? What steps allowed them to take root here? Their assembled stories reveal a multifaceted city that evolves at the rhythm of successive communities and generations.

This exhibition was created by the Centre d’histoire de Montréal from its own collections of interviews.

At cégep André-Laurendeau
Hall 3rd floor
1111, rue Lapierre, LaSalle

You Are Part of History!

(in French)

Throughout the school year, students in 18 “classes d'accueil” in seven Montréal secondary schools participated in the “You Are Part of History” educational program. Here, we present their stories for you to discover!

Les Habitations Jeanne-Mance.
50 Years of History.

(in French)

Little-known and often ill-reputed, this village within the city deserves to be rediscovered. In honour of the housing project’s 50th anniversary, testimonials from present and former inhabitants were collected by the CHM in fall 2009.
