Tips

Free disposal of ash wood on the city’s processing sites:

A form will be given to you at the same time as your felling permit that enables your contractor to drop off your ash wood, free of charge, at one of the city’s processing sites. Just give the form to your contractor. This applies only to branches or parts of the trunk with a diameter of 20 cm or more. If your tree is being pruned, you can get a form in an Accès Montréal office.

Wood processing techniques that are compliant with the by-law:

All processing techniques that completely destroy the emerald ash borer or the parts of wood where it may live (such as shredding into chips no larger than 2.5 cm on at least two sides, drying, roasting, fumigation, sawmilling with shredding of parts with bark, etc.)
