Located in Parc Painter chalet, the Mini-bibliothèque de Chameran is now offering neighbourhood families a new library schedule.
Until May 14, children and grown-ups will be able to take advantage of this service on Tuesdays, 3 p.m. – 6 p.m., and Sundays, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. On these small, prettily decorated premises, children, teens and adults have access to a varied collection of approximately 1500 titles: comic strips, novels, DVDs, video games, board games, books (in English, French or Arabic), language courses, recipe books, and more...
To be able to borrow library materials, users have only to bring their library card or carte-loisirs. They can also become a member of this library right on site.
An original initiative
The idea of setting up a mini-library came about in 2014, when the inter-borough Bibliobus—which had served this sector of the Borough since 2010 and had over 600 young members—came to a halt. Its developers showed creativity in discovering appropriate premises for this library: Noting that the office of the pool lifeguard at Parc Painter was vacant nine months out of twelve, they converted this space at little cost, with the Borough's internal resources.
