Green waste, branches and Christmas (fir) trees

Collection of Green Waste

Green waste collectionThe green waste collection is carried out once a week on Wednesdays, from mid-April to the first week of December.
However, it is replaced by the organic waste collection once it is implemented in the sector.

Time of day and location
Green waste must be placed by the curb between 7 p.m. the day before and 7 a.m. on the day of the collection.

Containers accepted

  • garbage cans
  • paper bags
  • cardboard boxes

PLEASE NOTE: No plastic bags, not even those that are certified biodegradable or compostable, are accepted for this collection.

Acceptable green waste:

  • gardening waste from clean-ups and landscaping work
  • branches of conifers and cedar hedges attached in bundles 50 cm in diameter X 1 metre long
  • leaves
  • waste from dethatching grounds
  • grass clippings (However, grasscycling is encouraged.)
  • waste from vegetable gardens and fruit trees
  • wood chips, twigs and sawdust from natural wood

Unacceptable green waste:

  • earth and stone
  • tree stumps and trunks as well as leafy tree branches (SEE BELOW: Collection of branches)
  • animal litter

Contractors and Borough employees assigned to the regular household waste collection have been instructed not to pick up bags or boxes of leaves placed by the curb for collection at the same time as household waste, so that such waste can be picked up during the special collection carried out by public works employees.

Due to the large volume of leaves to be picked up in the fall, some bags may be picked up on the days following the collection day.

Collection of branches

PLEASE NOTE: This collection is only for branches and trunks from leafy trees, 20 cm in diameter and less, and not for tree stumps, trunks and branches over 20 cm in diameter. Residents must contact and pay a tree contractor at their own expense to have these picked up.
