Livre-service: New free book-exchange for residents

December 14, 2012

Inspired by similar projects in major cities around the world, Livre-service is a free resident-to-resident book exchange that will soon be available in the borough. The idea is simple: people leave a book they liked in a “book box” and take one out. They are free to decide whether to return the book taken. There is no charge, no registration and no obligation.

Livre-service book boxes will soon open at the following locations:

  • Accès Montréal office: 5160 boul. Décarie
  • Parc Macdonald
  • Place Darlington
  • Near Plamondon métro station
  • Near Université-de-Montréal métro station
  • Near Concordia University's Loyola campus
  • Near Vendôme métro station
  • At the intersection of avenue de Monkland and avenue Marcil

Livre-service has no connections to the Bibliothèques publiques de Montréal (Montreal public librairies); therefore, its boxes cannot be used as library book-drops. Library materials must be returned to the public libraries.
