Mount Royal Historic, Natural District

House front on the Mount-RoyalThe Mount Royal Historic and Natural District, which lies partly within our borough, is protected by the Québec government in view of its many monuments and historic sites and its aesthetic and picturesque attractions.

Before starting outdoor construction work of any kind, check whether the building you own is located in the Mount Royal Historic and Natural District. If so, you will have to come to the permits and inspections division before starting work. This will allow you to submit a single permit application to the permits and inspections division, which will then forward your file to the department of culture and communications. The work must be authorized by the department before the city can issue a permit.

A site as remarkable as the Mount Royal Historic and Natural District calls for special attention, so it generally takes longer to obtain approval for applications concerning this district. Please keep this in mind when planning your project.
